After pulling BIDs out to wipe clean with image oil. when try to slide back in, it wouldn't click into place.

10/3/2012 light strip on prints

PIP wasn't printing up to the proposed impressions, around 25000 to 32000 when it should be around 65000.

There is an about 9mm lighter shaded strip measures about 65mm from the edge of paper.

Usually replace the PIP will resolve the issue, but I thought there must be something wrong that causes the PIP to go bad before it's intended lifespan.

Called HP support, Case # 4683563483.

Things checked:

- Check and run the Cleaning station calibration, and see if the PIP is getting enough imaging oil.

- Check the tray underneath the cleaning station to see if loose.

10/29/2012 - White banding

Again, we got this white 1/2" white banding near the leading edge of the prints.  It happens to every other sheet.  Usually changing the PIP will resolve the issue, however, our PIP didn't get the HP suggested impression count and started showing the band.  This time around 4000 impressions only.

Solution:
1. open the back of the press, near the turning wheel, you see a black screw cap that covers a wire.  Unscrew the black screw cover, take out the spring wire thing, clean the rectangular shaped copper block attached to the spring with IPA.  Use a cotton swab with IPA and clean the hole while turning the itm wheel. Put everything when finished.

2. Run auto bias.

3. Be sure the tray that is below the cleaning station is sturdy, not moving.  If not sturdy, screw it tight.

9/7/2012 - The impression drum temperature did not reach the desired temperature...

Case # 4681721344

HP tech: Clint.

Error message:  The impression drum temperature did not reach the desired temperature, please try again... Check and adjust the impression drum IR sensor"

You can see the impression drum IR sensor; the large coil/threaded thing that you see when you remove the air knife hose, but to clean it, you open the side bottom door, open the duplex conveyer, to the left, clean the impression drum shoulder and gear area, clean the IR sensor.

8-21-2012 - Magenta ink flow is too high

Did the monthly maintainence routine, after cleaned all the ink pumps, put everything back, start-up the press, got the Magenta ink flow is too high.

After running the ink flow wizard, it says to close the valve half a turn, until the reading is right.

what to do is the ink pump is behind the ink cans, if you look thru the holes underneath the ink cans, you see a flat head screw, use a long screw driver and turn it clockwise 1/4 of a turn each time and test, until the reading is correct.

8-16-2012 - replace pip and cleaning station sponge roller

wide white band on printed sheets.  after checking with print quality assistant, only cyan and yellow has the band, so replaced pip and the sponge roller.

roller part # mpt-1078-51.

8-16-2012 - Chiller time out

Is there a way to make the chiller sleep or timeout while I am out to lunch?

They basically time out and go to standby mode.

usually 20 min. or so.

Dry the bids first.

Go to standby and off.  That's about it.

8-15-2012 Smart Stream question

This is to recap yesterday's issues:

1. SSD didn't impose 4 up_ss very well, leaves 0.25" gap in the middle where 2 pages should butt.  Repaired permission on Mac, turns out the preview in SSD shouldn't be trusted.  There also should be 2 sets of crop marks for the two spreads, but only one fold line.

2. Feeder wouldn't feed any substrates from any drawers, hard restart the press solves the issue.

3. After restart the press, all files in loaded job wouldn't go in the queue, restart teh press again solves the issue.

8-16-2012 - Calibration Error

Calibration wouldn't go through, error message:

Couldn't complete the full color calibration.

Error message: High voltage error successfully recovered!
Check output tray for any poor-quality printouts and resume printing.

Hard shut down and restart the press one time, restart press software one time.

Hi Randy, this error is usually due to really old or bad bid.

I unchecked the "Velectrode calibration", and the calibration went thru.

yes, but all t5hat's doing is skipping the v-electrode calibration which is the charging unit insi9de thge bid.

Which one of your bids has the most impressions.

Yellow, also on the calibration result, it says yellow failed.

Then yellow bid is the likely culprit.  The issue should be resolved after a bid replacement.

OK, i'll replace the yellow bid.

Case # 680223274

update:

Replacing the yellow bid didn't resolved the issue, re-calibrate 2 colors at a time, yellow still didn't pass, so as white.
